I know you’re tired. You’re exhausted from all the things life has thrown at you, dragging you by your feet into depths so deep and so dark you fear there’s no way to return from it. 

I know you’re sad. An all encompassing depression, receding into your mind like a hermit, because you feel safest there. 

I know you cared, far too deeply for them to understand, your words so soft and gentle with them, when most would spout venom from their lips and poison you with their words. 

I know they didn’t reciprocate, but baby it’s far too late to be so consumed in what they think of you, the disrespect and hate that they expressed. 

I know there was never anything you could do or could have done to avoid the messy state you’re in. 

I know you want to give up, but you need to let their sins that stained your skin with blackened blood slip off you while you bathe in the light within, let it absolve you. 

I know you knew all along how wrong they were to you, how wrong they were about you. 

I know you’re worn down and numb to the core but I promise you this, there is more. 

I know you’re at your limit, but give it time, give yourself time to address and redress old wounds from the war that rages inside you. 

I know you’re scared. Take my hand and I will walk with you there til the trail ends. 

I know you think your happiness depends on reciprocation but please know that it does not. 

I know it’s hard, and dark and scary and new and the world is ever changing around you, evolving and morphing into unfamiliar territory. 

I know you’re guarded, please let the door open for you, raze the walls to the ground and be humbled by your infinite beauty. 

I know you’re trying to stay safe, but it’s okay now. Let them in.
