Introduction

Merry meet! My name is Maeve and thank you for joining me on this stream.
A brief introduction of what this stream will include: crafted items (either works in progress or completed objects), how crafting is my therapy, and places I will be selling from should I choose to do so. I will also be mentioning where my crafting ideas come from, if applicable.
I’m really excited to begin this journey with you and I hope you will enjoy it as well.
Why is therapy a part of my life and why this form? I have PTSD. I won’t go into details; that’s not the point of this blog. Suffice to say that I had been struggling for some time with my symptoms and the talk therapy I was receiving wasn’t enough to allow me some sense of normalcy on its own, however much it helped. My hands yearned to do something; they couldn’t sit still. And my love of reading was affected by this condition as well; I just couldn’t focus.
On January first, 2015, I started to teach myself how to crochet. I had purchased a book entitled “Crocheting for Dummies” some years previous, thinking it might be a nice “try something new for the new year” and had never really looked at it until this point. I had some tension issues at first (still do with newly learned stitches), but the swatches (samples) I created were passable. And I began to notice that my hands didn’t shake while crocheting as they were wont to do with virtually everything else I did.
I also noticed that some of my brain fog was lifting. I could focus more and remain engaged with my activities. My breathing was easier, my heart rate slower. As the days went on, I could feel myself getting better. I likely won’t ever be without some symptoms, but I was getting to the point where I could live.
I’m getting to the point of wanting to sell my finished objects some day. Getting out to get a table somewhere still unnerves me, however. I am at the point in my recovery that I can see myself selling my wares and chatting with the customers. I hope I can have that life soon.
The ghost in the thumbnail is one of the things I’ve made. His name is Bob. He gets pride of place with some other stuffies I made. I hope to be able to sell some of his friends soon.
Thanks for spending time with me; I really appreciate it. Come back soon!
