Kitsune

*Beep* *Beep* *Beep* I reach out and turn my alarm off. Sigh, "Another day." I get out of bed and begin my morning routine. Shower, get dressed, brush my teeth. One last check in the mirror at my appearance. Just like my mom, burnet hair, emerald green eyes and nicely tan. I head downstairs to meet my dad for breakfast. "Dad!?", I call out but receive no answer. He is probably in the basement again, I think to myself. I go and knock on the basement door. *crash* *bang* "Coming!", my dad yells from the basement. He comes up stairs and joins me for breakfast. I definitely dont get any of my looks from my dad, he is a bit slimmer in build, black hair and brown eyes. "Any new discoveries, dad?" I ask sarcastically. He gives me the look that all parents give their kids when they say enough. "What? I'm just asking a question." I take a bite of waffle and he sighs "Kit, you know my work is important. I have to research as much as I can and understand as much as I can." My dad does "research" on anything mythical or enchanted. I roll my eyes, "Dad you and I both know that mythical creatures and fantasies aren't real." He looks at me as if he wanted to tell me something but I didn't hang around long enough for him to say it. I grabbed my school bag and left for school. I tried not to think about this morning, but for some reason in the back of my head I heard a voice say "but what if he is right?"
For as long as I can remember my dad has been obsessed with learning about anything mythical or enchanted. He thinks the creatures and curses and spells are all real and that he is seeing these beings and talking to them. I get home from school to hear my dad talking to someone in the basement. I quietly go to the door and put my ear close. "You have to tell her, Bruce!" A deep thunder of a voice yelled at my dad. "I know, Caspian, but anytime I bring up anything mythical she gets mad and leaves." There was silence that felt like an eternity. "When does she return from school? I'll tell her myself, she will have to believe once she sees me." I hear heavy foot steps start up the stairs to me. I panic, not knowing what to do or where to go I just stood there.
Suddenly the door opens and a tall pale man stood in front of me. His ice blue eyes stared down at me, "you must be Kit" He thundered. "I am Caspian, Lord of the Elves. Only then did I notice the point of his ears under his long snow white hair. "Y-youre...an elf?!" I whispered quietly too afraid to speak any louder. He smiled a gentle smile, "no need to be afraid my child. You are safe."
Looking at him in disbelief I tried to collect my thoughts. He just stood there smiling at me, "why do you keep looking at me like that?" I ask. He replied in a low thunder, "you do look just like your mother."
