I’m Erica B., and if there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that my life is split between two worlds: one where I dive into dark, fantastical universes of my own making, and one where I deal with real-life. The Creative Side: Welcome to Crimson
Writing has always been my escape since my early 20s. It’s where I can pour all the wild ideas living in my head onto the proverbial page. Right now, my main obsession is my Tales Dripping in Crimson series, a spicy dark urban fantasy series.
Crimson, Maryland, isn’t your average small town. It’s alive with secrets, supernatural energy, and an eerie atmosphere. Dena, bubbly and underestimated, finds herself at the center of this strange world. Then there’s Kay, the last Fae on this plane of existence (or maybe all of existence itself). Together, their stories weave a tale of passion, danger, and self-discovery.
But Crimson isn’t just a story to me; it’s a whole lived-in world. To explore it further, I’ll post some of the city's short stories on my NotD account. It’s my playground for experimenting with new ideas and sharing glimpses into this haunted, magical town. In the meantime, you can check out the previous short stories at my online store.
While Crimson is my focus, I refuse to box myself in. I love diving into smutty dark fantasy and sci-fi (because who doesn’t love a little spice?), but I’m always open to exploring new genres when inspiration strikes. For me, writing is about creating connections—whether it’s with the worlds I build or the readers who join me in exploring them.
The Real-Life Side: Navigating The Struggle and Helping Others
Outside of my fictional worlds, life has thrown me more than a few curveballs. Like many, I’ve faced challenges that tested my strength and pushed me to grow. Those experiences inspired me to not only work through my own struggles but to offer support to others going through similar situations.
For instance, I’m working on a piece called “N.O.P.E. for the Holidays” that’s all about setting boundaries with toxic family members during the holidays. It’s a topic close to my heart because I know firsthand how hard it can be to protect your peace in those situations. My goal is to share what I’ve learned and help others feel empowered to take control of their own happiness.
Whether it’s through my stories or personal essays, I want to be a voice that reminds people they’re not alone. Life sure ain't easy. Together, we can find ways to navigate the struggles, set boundaries, and carve out a piece of joy—even in the most unexpected places.
