PARIS (AP) — Firefighters declared success Tuesday morning in their more than 12-hour battle to extinguish the flames that engulfed Paris’ iconic Notre Dame cathedral. What remained was a blackened shell of the monument immortalized in Victor Hugo’s 1831 novel “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” a building that had survived almost 900 years of tumultuous French history.

I'm going to test two features of Notd: debates and annotation. Let's see how they work.

So here is a new note posted to the test community stream. I will test a couple things, one I want to see how much of this excerpt is published. I also want to make sure my note gets seen by other members of the community, and will see if they can't respond.

However, threading appears to be working. This is one of the three features that Notd has which are not common on news, blogs, or networks.

Here is an excerpt of this note. It is short, but not too short so that it looks like nothing. It should be at least a few sentences so we can see what it looks like in the excerpts of a subscribed stream. This was written on June 13, and will be deleted soon, once we finish the test.
