NOTE: I’d recommend you watch or be a bit familiar with the musical and/or movie before reading my opinion on Emmett :) Alright, I’m going to be completely genuine when I say I didn’t personally like Emmett Forest in the original movie that much (Legally Blonde-2001). He wasn’t a bad character by any means, in all actuality I found him an excellent love interest and partner figure to Elle Woods throughout the movie, though, to me, he wasn’t really vital until the musical adaptation. As stated in my previous post, I enjoy musicals quite a bit, though, the only thing that Legally Blonde didn’t really get down to the T was the characterization of Emmett Forest, the lawyer Elle ends up with at the end of the movie. Their relationship is excellent, as you would expect, though in the musical adaptation, not expected.

One of my favorite musicals, the cult classic Beetlejuice from the mind of Tim Burton, has, as of 2019, had a musical adaptation of it. Since I was young, I’ve always loved to sing, but I think the spike in the number of Broadway musicals I listened to truly heightened that love. From Hamilton, to Heathers, to Mean Girls, to Legally Blonde, to Ride the Cyclone, to Falsettos, to, as stated, Beetlejuice, this love has only been further cemented. Though, as of late, I’ve started getting into watching the source material of these musicals, such as the movie Heathers (1989), Mean Girls (2004), and of course Beetlejuice (1988). Since I’ve started doing this, I’ve noticed the extreme differentiations between source material and the musicals that become of them.

Sometimes I Wish I Had a Twin

Often times, I find myself wishing I had been born with a twin sibling, and, even today, that statement still reigns true. The idea of having someone by your side, continuously, sounds like it would be the solution to my problems. To know that that person is always there, maybe a bit annoyed by you, but with you regardless brings me a sense of comfort unlike any other. I was born into a house with two siblings, one who is 19, turning 20 this year, and one who is 24, turning 25 this year. They’re not bad siblings, no, not by any means, in fact they’re rather spectacular. They treat me well, but I’ve always noticed how they seem to find more of a bond within each other than within me. There’s a shared sense of comradery between the two, considering that both attend college, something that I wish I could have, but simply don’t.
