Prompt: 3 Things People May Pass Judgement On. 3 Things That Actually Describe You. I decided to write about my experiences with anxiety, and how I often fear I do not fit into a conventional mold, especially in school. I also wrote about my experiences having 2 moms, as people are frequently homophobic towards me for the way I was raised. This was for an assignment in my Writer's Workshop elective, so a specific structure is evident. Let me know what you think!

Prompt: Who are they? What makes them tick? What was their life like growing up? What is their life like now? What strengths or weaknesses/ fears do they have?

Go online and look at art. Find a piece of art that speaks to you in some way. For your poem: think about HOW you want to connect with the art.

Prompt: Tell me a story about a time that you learned something really important about yourself. Detailing the story of how I taught myself to ride a bike, exploring more story-form poetry.

Prompt: Write a longer poem, or a page or so of prose, where you observe the world around you AND TELL A STORY ABOUT IT. This doesn’t have to be about what you are currently observing; it can be about something that you have observed in the past. Zoom in to details and use caesura, end-stopped and enjambed lines, similes, metaphors, and imagery to make your writing come alive for the reader. This is a LONGER poem, where you get a little contemplative!

Personal Peice about how women struggle with their appearance, and hoe harmful it can be to those who listen. "Children may not obey, but children will listen."

Prompt: write your own piece, using similes and metaphors to extend the main idea of your work! This is about the different people I've encountered taking the train into the city.

Prompt: you can use the two show n tells that we’ve had so far, and the objects you showed us. But if you have another object in mind, use that. Address your poem or prose poem TO the object. In other words, use “YOU.”

Prompt: Describe the objects to us in detail. Use sensory imagery. Think about line breaks, if you are using poetry. Even if you are writing in paragraph form, you will be essentially writing a PROSE POEM, which is a poem written in...you guessed it...prose. So it still needs that rich detail and sensory imagery. You do not need to tell us that you “love” this object. SHOW US. Show us that you care for it through imagery and gesture--perhaps it’s a photo, displayed where you can see it from your bed so you have sweet dreams. Or perhaps it’s crammed in a drawer somewhere, because it makes you shake with stress whenever you see it.

Examining the writings of E.E Cummings Prompt: choose a topic and write a poem about the topic. Play with punctuation and capitals and lowercase. Invent words if you want, by combining some together. Have fun with it. Make the lines short or long, but pay attention to where they end.
