In this chapter, I explain t"he very first time that I was sought out and contacted by a being from the Other Side. I want one more day of Pride. July 1: Found Family Day. Because I can’t remember the exact date I felt accepted. I can’t remember the first words I said to my husband— only that, for the first time, I felt like I’d made a real friend. Life gave me found family—so I’m giving it a day. July 1. Because having pride and finding your people is #1. Spend the day with me. I don’t write these stories to get noticed. I write to find family. Found Family Day is for anything that made you a better person. It’s for the day you pulled a kitten off the highway— even if you never knew their birthday, or the name of the road. It’s for those of us who didn’t get a DNA match— who had to go out and build something better. Like that kitten. Like me, hearing my husband’s voice for the first time. And if you love young Felix, I will write him for your children.
