This is a poem that I read aloud during an event to honor the women we are, and the women in our lives: Her son went off to Jerusalem To find that holiest of grails And this woman couldn’t help but feel that in raising him she’d failed

This is a poem that I wrote about my friend Ricky, who died of an overdose many years ago. The thumbnail is the memento, a book that he stole from someone and gifted to me. It’s the only thing I have left of him except some files containing his music, which hurts to listen to. It was a New Orleans winter You were always just a splinter in my side
