They say jazz is all about improvisation, but tonight I'm learning it's also about patience. Last night, I stood in my living room, pretending it was a dimly lit club somewhere downtown. Mic in hand, audience of none, pouring my heart into every lyric like someone was actually listening. Maybe that's the real work of being an artist , believing in the performance even when the stage lights haven't turned on yet.
