PREVIEW: It doesn’t matter who you are. It doesn’t matter where you are. Everyone struggles. Everyone runs into challenges that seem impossible to overcome. Look at anyone around you; they have certainly gone through something just like what you’re experiencing now. It is so important to remember that you are not the only one. You are not the only one struggling to find a place of happiness in life. But keep in mind: life is about struggling. It’s about struggling and finding a way out.

There's no blueprint when you're building something from nothing- just an idea, a lot of doubt, and the decision to keep going anyway. Some days it feels exciting, other days it feels like you're putting in effort with nothing to show for it. But maybe that quiet, unseen progress is where the real growth is happening.

Lately, I've been caught between frustration and quiet progress. I keep thinking about everything I still haven't accomplished, everything that feels unfinished. But at the same time, I can't ignore how far I've come. I've changed in ways that aren't always visible, and I've kept going even when it felt hard. I'm not where I want to be yet, but I'm not where I used to be either ... and maybe learning to recognize that is part of the growth too.

This is likely because of the stark differences between a modern day influencer and a physician. Most doctors today would be all too happy to refute any coordinated dance routine performed in front of a ring lamp that told you you were autistic. Yet, it would appear that the combination of the broad reach of influencers and the huge number of individuals who spend more time staring at their phone screens than watching where they’re going is winning in a battle of popularity. This all leads to the question, “if my doctor says I don’t need that medication, how do I get my hands on it anyway”?

Yesterday was Sunday, and I was at a craft market — I’m a vendor, and I sell at this market every week. Honestly, this time of year, I don’t make money at it. In fact, I often don’t make enough to cover the table, but it’s usually pretty close. There were pamphlets for Al-Anon on the table when I arrived. Now, I don’t have a problem with 12-step programs, but they have the same success rates as quitting cold turkey does, and I think this is important to know.

Everyone moves at a different pace. Some people win early. Some people struggle first. Some people look like they have it all figured out. Most don’t. If you feel behind in life right now, you’re not. You’re learning. You’re growing. You’re becoming stronger in ways nobody can see yet. The late nights. The quiet improvements. The small wins no one claps for. That’s building season. Stop comparing your chapter one to someone else’s chapter twenty. Your timeline is yours for a reason. Keep going. Keep improving. Keep believing. One day the same people who doubted you will call it “luck.” It wasn’t luck. It was consistency.

Did you know that endometriosis alone has only 28 million dollar funding meanwhile men's hairloss consists of over 270 million dollars? Just in the US it was found that over 6.5 million women deal with endometriosis while their doctors struggle to give a cause of the condition. Does this seem fair? The condition of PCOS only has 31 million dollar funding as well, yet every 1 in 10 women are diagnosed with it worldwide? That means that 5 to 6 million women have PCOS and 70% of them go undiagnosed because of the lack of research thats been trained into our medical professionals in the US.

Written during coivd-19, where as New Yorker we were devoid of sharing the integral part of our personalities, by revealing our full facial expressions, including our smiles, since it was being blocked by our masks. Some pro-vaxers, who were very concerned and extreme of safe guarding themselves, doubled if not trippled their masks to cover their entire faces. Creating a huge civil debate in American society, of how far vaacination, masking, and social distancing was necessary in keeping everyone healthy and safe. I also wanted to comment on fake smiles, an insincere gestures, and all of us sometime being fooled, naïve, and worried if the person smiling at us is masking their true sentiments about us, or hiding something else they are going through. While the poor expectation to exude happiness the majority of the time, so others can feel comfortable in our presence, with all the array of emotions we display, where we are expected to only smile on camera, even if we are not feeling it.
