The moon, Earth and sun will line up this weekend for the only total lunar eclipse this year and next. At the time of the eclipse — Sunday night into Monday — the moon will also be ever so closer to Earth and appear slightly bigger and brighter than usual, known as a supermoon. The whole event will last about three hours, with totality lasting just over an hour and beginning at 11:41 p.m. on the east coast. The next total lunar eclipse won't be until May 2021.
